Landscaping companies

Fall is just around the corner and there is still time to do some last minute landscaping. However, you don’t want to undergo this arduous task alone, and calling up your husband’s buddies to get the job done just doesn’t sound very appealing (or safe).

Instead, looking up landscaping companies should be your go-to method. The landscaping industry has generated nearly $74 billion in revenue and employs an estimated 888,426 people. These are trained professionals who are good at what they do — so you can rely on a job well done.

If you’ve got a beautiful landscaping design in mind but don’t know whether or not landscaping companies will be able to achieve it, here are a few ways to determine what company is best for the job.

The basics: Landscaping services should provide you with expert capabilities, professionalism, and should show genuine concern for your backyard landscaping project.

Decide what you want done: Do you want decorative stones, or a giant pool landscaping design? No matter that the kind of work is, you’ll want it to be the best. So decide first what your project will entail, then decide on a budget. Landscaping companies will charge a variety of prices, so you should be able to find a company within your price range.

Once you’ve decided on a design and a price range, narrow down the search and come up with a list of five to seven companies. Some landscaping companies only offer maintenance and lawn work; be sure that you check their website to find out what kind of services they offer.

As for recommendations from friends, family members, and neighbors. Your best bet is to contact a neighbor whose landscaping work is similar to what you want. Sometimes a landscaping company will design the yards of an entire neighborhood for a rebated price.

Qualifications:

  • Does the company have insurance coverage? If not, and someone gets hurt on the job, they may be able to sue you for their injuries on your property.
  • Do they belong to any organizations? A good sign is if the company is affiliated with a professional association. This means they will likely be up to date in qualifications and modern designs.
  • How long have they been in business? Experience is everything when it comes to landscaping. If the company has only been in existence for a few years, you should probably look for one that has been around for 10 or more years instead.

Their work ethic: Lastly, does the landscaping company you are interested in take pride in their work? The most successful companies will have a portfolio of their best designs that they can show you. They should be able to give you advice as to what shrubs and hardscaping materials to use, including eco-friendly options. Those who garden are an estimated 25% more likely to pay for eco-friendly products, so ask if there are environmentally friendly landscaping options.

As always, determine whether or not you will want this group of people to be spending long hours at your house. You should be able to enjoy working with them!

About Me

I've seen a lot of cooking, home improvement and crafting shows and, let me tell you, they make things look way easier than they are. Most people really can’t remodel their own kitchen, paint a wall mural or whip up a gourmet meal in an afternoon. I’m here to share my ideas and guidance about home and family--things I've learned through trial and error. I've already made the mistakes so you don’t have to! Just don’t ask about the kitchen cabinet refinishing project that went awry.
