Get a ladder and two buckets that you can hook onto the ladder.
Place debris into one bucket and tools that you need like a trowel in another. Wear sturdy work gloves. Be sure to place the ladder on a level surface. Never stand on the very top step of the ladder, because it will be likely to fall over. The ladder needs to be at a slight angle. If the ladder is straight against the house, it is in danger of falling.
Remove debris with the trowel or your hands. After this is done, rinse the gutters out with a garden hose. If you have gutters on two floors, rinse the upper floor gutters first, because that water will run off and help rinse out the second floor gutters. If there are leaves nearby on the roof, try to rinse them off, since they will most likely soon wind up in the gutters.
While you are cleaning your gutters, check them for damage. If they are damaged, call a contractor or the company that installed your gutters for repairs.
