When you first moved into your house, it may have suited your needs perfectly. Over time, however, you’ve probably discovered that it would benefit from the addition of a third bathroom, more storage space, or a total remodel. If you also have a growing family, chances are that you could use a few home additions.
Kitchen Remodels and Upgrades
Many homeowners are having their entire home remodeled. Along with the 35% of homeowners that were having whole home renovations, 76% were going for an entirely new style for their kitchen. During these kitchen renovations, the “2016 Houzz Kitchen Trends Study” indicated that 87% used professional assistance for these projects, such as general contractors.
Bathroom Remodels and Upgrades
When upgrading their master bathrooms, 90% of homeowners were also planning to go for an entirely new style. The participants in the “2016 Houzz Bathroom Trends Study” showed that 87% were planning to update their showers. This includes increasing shower sizes by 50% or more, which was the case with 30% of the survey participants.
It’s interesting to note that over 4 out of 5 homeowners were planning to replace their bathroom’s major features. This includes having new flooring and countertops installed along with new sinks and showers. New lighting fixtures are another way to revitalize a guest or master bathroom.
Investment Returns
Whether you’re planning to sell your house in the near future, or remodel so you can enjoy it for decades to come, upgrading your kitchen and bathroom can bring you significant returns on your investment. Were you aware that even a minor remodel in the kitchen can bring an average return of 82.7%? When you have a new bathroom added, you can potentially receive an 84.6% return. When you have a large family or entertain on a regular basis, that extra bathroom can really be convenient.
Give Your House a Total Make-Over
Rather than buy a new house, why not give your existing home a total make-over? Remodeling, upgrading, and home additions can all give your home an entirely new look. After these remodeling projects are all complete, just imagine how much fun you’ll have redecorating as well.
