In workplaces and homes throughout the country, commercial floor coatings and residential floor coatings have made a name for themselves. After all, commercial and residential floor coatings serve many an important role, making residential floor coatings and the like hugely important in many regards. Of course, getting something like a residential floor coating is a process, as is anything else, given the fact that residential floor coatings are not one size fits all. The commercial and residential floor coatings that are available are not all the same, and looking thoroughly into these commercial and residential floor coatings before settling on one is something that will prove hugely beneficial at the end of the day.

For one thing, the use of commercial floor coating such as concrete floor coating can help to keep workspaces as safe as they can possibly be. After all, slip and fall accidents are more common than you might think – and should be taken very seriously indeed. The data that has been conducted into this issue quite clearly supports this claim, showing that more than 80% (around 85%, to be just a bit more specific) of all claims made to worker’s compensation programs can be attributed to slip and fall accidents of varying natures. And these slip and fall accidents are sometimes very serious indeed, with nearly one fifth of them necessitating a recovery time (away from work) of at least 30 days, if not even longer. In total, slip and fall accidents are the most prevalent cause behind accidents not just in restaurants and industrial spaces, but in hotels and public buildings as well. Fortunately, commercial and residential floor coatings can help to make such spaces safer than ever before by lessening the chances of something like a slip and fall accident from ever occurring in the first place.

One popular type of floor coating used for commercial and residential floor coatings alike is that of the epoxy floor coating. However, more and more people are finding that epoxy coatings are less than ideal for their floors, something that can be attributed to a number of different factors. For one thing, epoxy coatings have been known to become brittle in as little as 12 months, the course of just one single year. There are other issues that have been identified with epoxy coatings, but what can be used as an alternative for commercial and residential floor coatings alike?

Typically, polyaspartic coating fits the bill quite nicely. Polyaspartic coatings, after all, have been around for quite some time now. Polyaspartic coatings are superior to epoxy coatings in a number of different ways, and can be used for commercial purposes as well as for residential floor coatings. For one thing, the time it takes to apply polyaspartic coatings is greatly reduced in comparison to epoxy coatings. For instance, polyaspartic coatings typically only take around a few hours to cure, while epoxy coatings can take as many as eight hours to cure – and typically no fewer than six at the very least. On average, the total application of polyaspartic residential floor coatings and commercial floor coatings can be completed over the span of just one single day. This, as you might have already guessed, cannot typically be said for epoxy coatings.

Polyaspartic coatings are actually better for your health as well, something that you might not have considered. After all, their content of volatile organic compounds (also known as VOCs) is incredibly low indeed. In many cases, in fact, it is pretty much nonexistent. Being able to preserve indoor air quality is a hugely important thing indeed, of this there is just no doubt. Again, this is not always something that can be said for epoxy coatings.

At the end of the day, there is no denying that floor coatings are hugely important indeed – and not just in one type of a space, but in many. In the years that have elapsed since the early 1990s, when polyaspartic coatings were first put into use, polyaspartic coatings have become something of the gold standard for floor coatings throughout the country. Even in a direct comparison to epoxy floor coatings, polyaspartic coatings typically emerge the winner when used as commercial floor coatings and for residential floor coatings.
