Tile installation

Thinking about remodeling your kitchen? Ready for beauty, ease of cleaning, and fantastic choice? Then you?re ready for tile installation.

While it?s true that in a recent Houzz survey hardwood covers 34% of respondants floors, tile still covers 23%. Because tile is a terrific alternative to hard wood and far easier to clean and repair. Not to mention the nearly unlimited variety of floor design patterns available when you have tile installation done. Altogether, 90% of homeowners prefer hardwood or tile in the kitchen, and tile is far preferable!

Cleaning Tile Vs. Cleaning Hardwood

Ceramic tile floors can be cleaned easily with nothing more than warm water, but be sure to sweep first to remove any loose dirt or grit. Don?t use a sponge mop to clean ceramic-tile floors, as it will pull the dirt into the grout tracks, making the floor more difficult to clean. If you use a rag and the on-your-hands-and-knees cleaning method, be sure to swipe in a circular motion across the floor. Don’t forget the cabinets and baseboards. If you have really dirty grout, use a brush and try a mixture of about one-third white vinegar to two-thirds water to get the stains up.

When cleaning hardwood flooring you?ll need boiling water and two teabags. The tannins in the tea create a beautiful shine for hardwood floors. Let the tea steep in the water for a few minutes, then pour it into a bucket. Take a soft cloth and wring it out in the tea, it should be damp, not soaked. This will allow the floor to dry quickly. This must be done with the on-your-hands-and-knees cleaning method.

Obviously tile is more easily cleaned. Another good reason to consider tile installation.

Repairing Tile Floor Vs Hardwood Floor

A floor covered with ceramic tile is about as durable and low maintenance a surface as you can get unless a tile breaks, but even then you’ll be glad to have tile underfoot, because tile installation for a broken or chipped tile is fairly simple. Whereas, with hardwood floors, you?ll first need to decided if you need only need to replace a small area or if the whole floor needs repairs, or do you just need to refinish and re-coat. These processes affect much larger areas of the floor than one tile, and take far longer to handle.

So if you?re ready to make your kitchen as beautiful as possible ? or bathroom, or kids play area, or indoor/outdoor deck? the ideas are endless ? have tile installation done today.

I've seen a lot of cooking, home improvement and crafting shows and, let me tell you, they make things look way easier than they are. Most people really can’t remodel their own kitchen, paint a wall mural or whip up a gourmet meal in an afternoon. I’m here to share my ideas and guidance about home and family--things I've learned through trial and error. I've already made the mistakes so you don’t have to! Just don’t ask about the kitchen cabinet refinishing project that went awry.
